What we collect,and what we don't.
This site is used by high school students, so it collects as little as it possibly can. Below is all of it.
The short version
The only personal information this site collects is whatever you type into the join form. There are no advertising trackers and no marketing scripts, and nothing here sets a cookie that would need a consent banner.
The join form
If you submit the form on the join page, you send us your name, email address, and optionally your school, grade and a short note. That is emailed to info@guelphfblc.ca, which is a Google Workspace inbox run by the chapter executive.
The message is delivered by Resend, an email provider, which handles it only to send it. We ask for a school and a grade so we can point you at the right events. Both are optional and the form works fine without them.
We use your email address to write back. We will not add you to a mailing list, sell it, or show it to anyone outside the chapter executive. If you want your submission deleted, email info@guelphfblc.ca and we will take it out of the inbox.
Spam protection
The form has a hidden field that people never see and bots tend to fill in. The server also limits how many submissions can come from one network address per minute. Your IP address is held in memory for that check. It is not stored and not written to any log.
Analytics
The live site uses Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies. It records page views and a short list of interactions, like which navigation link you used or the fact that a form was submitted. It does not record what you typed into anything.
The code only allows short values through that cannot identify anyone, and it blocks the fields called name, email, school and note outright. Nothing is measured on preview builds or while we are working on the site locally.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. It keeps one value in browser session storage so the short opening animation does not replay on every page you visit. That value never leaves your device, and the browser clears it when you close the tab.
Third parties
- Vercel hosts the site and provides the analytics described above. Ordinary server logs apply.
- Resend delivers the join-form emails.
- Google Workspace hosts the info@guelphfblc.ca inbox that receives them.
- Google Fonts serves two of our typefaces. The main one is hosted on our own site.
Links out to fblc.ca and anywhere else are covered by those sites’ own policies, not this one.
